• American Legion National High School Oratorical Contest The National High School Oratorical Contest is open to junior high and high school students who are under the age of 20 and are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States. To be considered, you must prepare an oration on some aspect of the U.S. Constitution, with emphasis on a citizen's duties and obligations to our government. A complete list of topics are available on the Legion's Web site. Each individual state winner certified into and participating in the first round of the national contest receives a $2,000 scholarship.

Selection is based on your ability to highlight how science saves in a succinct, creative way with original photos, video clips, and text.

• Jason David Anderson Memorial Scholarship This scholarship seeks to keep the memory of Jason David Anderson alive and honor him by supporting students who are pursuing higher education in order to help people who struggle with addiction. Any high school or undergraduate student in New Jersey who has at least a 3.0 GPA and has been impacted by addiction in some way may apply for this scholarship if they’re pursuing a major in healthcare or drug rehabilitation.

• Andrew Schultze Memorial Scholarship Andrew “Andy” Schultze, a devoted husband and father, worked in HVAC for 38 years, rising from a metal shop worker to business owner. Passionate about the trade, he valued both education and hands-on experience.
  
  This scholarship supports Suffolk County, NY, high school students (2.0+ GPA) pursuing HVAC training.
  
  To apply, share your interest in HVAC, challenges you've faced, and how a boss would describe you. A teacher recommendation is required; an employer recommendation is optional.

• EJS Foundation Minority Scholarship Minority students are often placed at a disadvantage when it comes to pursuing higher education.
  
  The wealth gap often means that minority students do not have the financial resources necessary to finance their college education, forcing many to turn to student loans in order to pursue their educational goals. These loans and their high interest rates trap many students in cycles of debt, holding them back from saving for retirement, buying homes, and pursuing advanced degrees.
  
  This scholarship aims to support students who have had to overcome obstacles to pursue higher education.

• E-waste Scholarship Each year there are 20 to 50 million tons of e-waste discarded in the world. E-waste contains toxic materials, including heavy metals, that can easily seep into the ground and ultimately get into groundwater supplies. According to the EPA, recycling e-waste allows more than 100 million pounds of materials to be reused annually. The purpose of this scholarship is to help you understand the impact of e-waste and what can be done to reduce e-waste.

  Eden’s sad passing shook the world of her parents and left a permanent mark on her five-year-old brother, Lincoln, as well. Losing a close family member can be a life-altering event that can create lasting trauma and make it difficult to keep going.
  
  This scholarship seeks to support students who have lost close family members and fought to continue pursuing their goals.
  
  Any high school, undergraduate, or graduate student who has lost an immediate family member may apply for this scholarship.

• James T. Godwin Memorial Scholarship This scholarship seeks to honor the life of James T. Godwin. Master Sergeant James T. Godwin (ret) was a decorated United States Air Force member, serving his country for over 24 years. Throughout his military service, James received the Distinguished Flying Cross, 8 Air Medals, and an Air Force Commendation Medal. He accumulated a total of 819 combat hours and 111 combat support hours. During the Vietnam War, James was 1 of 6 Godwin brothers that simultaneously served in the armed services! After his military retirement, James served as a federal employee where he accomplished another retirement, and then went on to start his own small business, which he ran for over 20 years! Most importantly, James was a loving husband for over 61 years to Ruth Ann, a proud father to 6 children, and the best papa and great grandpapa you could ask for. He was extremely proud of each member of his family and when he wasn’t bragging about one of their accomplishments or asking about his “grandbabies,” James would share stories from his time in the military. Any high school senior, trade school student or graduate who is the family member of a veteran or active-duty military member, may apply for this scholarship.

• JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest Are you a U.S. high school student with a love for U.S. history? If so, we may have the perfect opportunity for you: the JFK Profile in Courage Essay Contest! Each year, the contest awards up to $10,000 to winning applicants who submit a 700 – 1,000-word essay following the year’s prompt. Each year’s prompt relates to U.S. history, with this year’s being: “Describe an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. ” The scholarship is offered by the John F. The Elizabeth Schalk Memorial Scholarship will not only help fund a student's education, but will also memorialize Elizabeth Schalk, who suffered from mental illness throughout her life.
