GreenMotion Motors*

*Not a real company but this could be your company

GreenMotion Motors, a pioneering electric vehicle manufacturer, was founded in 2022 with the vision of creating sustainable and innovative electric vehicles. The company is based in Atlanta, Georgia, and focuses on producing high-quality, affordable electric vehicles for the mass market. GreenMotion Motors prides itself on its commitment to sustainability, cutting-edge technology, and community engagement.

The Challenge

As GreenMotion Motors prepared to launch its first line of electric vehicles, they faced a critical challenge: finding skilled mechanical engineers to design and develop the chassis for their vehicles. The automotive industry is highly competitive, and attracting experienced talent can be difficult, especially for a new company. Additionally, GreenMotion Motors wanted to invest in the local community and create opportunities for young talent.

The Solution

GreenMotion Motors partnered with Shamrck to address their talent needs. Shamrck's platform connects businesses with high school students through comprehensive Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, pre-apprenticeships, and apprenticeships focused on upskilling students for careers in advanced manufacturing and engineering. This approach aimed to create a vetted and trained talent pool and establish a sustainable talent pipeline for GreenMotion Motors.

Implementation

  1. CTE Bootcamp in Electric Vehicle Manufacturing: Shamrck conducted an initial CTE Bootcamp for high school students in the local area, focusing on electric vehicle manufacturing. This bootcamp provided foundational knowledge about electric vehicles, including battery technology, electric drivetrains, and sustainable manufacturing practices. Students engaged in hands-on activities and workshops to gain practical insights into the industry.
  2. Pre-Apprenticeship in 3D Modeling and Mechanical Design: Following the CTE Bootcamp, students who demonstrated strong interest and aptitude in mechanical engineering were selected for a pre-apprenticeship program. This program focused on 3D modeling and mechanical design, providing students with advanced training in CAD software, design principles, and simulation techniques. The pre-apprenticeship program included both classroom instruction and practical projects to ensure students developed robust skills.
  3. Apprenticeship in the Chassis Division: After completing the pre-apprenticeship program, students were integrated into GreenMotion’s engineering team as apprentices in the chassis division. During this phase, they worked alongside experienced engineers on real-world projects, contributing to the design and development of vehicle chassis. Apprentices were involved in tasks such as CAD modeling, structural analysis, prototype testing, and performance optimization. GreenMotion engineers provided mentorship and guidance throughout the apprenticeship.
  4. Ongoing Support and Evaluation: Shamrck provided continuous support and evaluation, ensuring that students met their learning objectives and contributed effectively to the projects. Regular feedback sessions were held to monitor progress and address any challenges. Shamrck also facilitated communication between students, mentors, and educators to ensure a cohesive learning experience.
